Quality assurance with PMI (Positive Material Identification)

Fast, non-destructive analysis of the chemical composition of metals —
before you make a transaction decision.

What is the PMI service?

PMI (Positive Material Identification) is a technique for testing the chemical composition of metals and alloys that enables quick and accurate material identification. It is a non-destructive method, which means it does not damage the tested element. Thanks to PMI testing, we can:

  • Confirm compliance with industry standards and requirements.
  • Verify material certificates and control supply quality.
  • Identify the type of alloy (e.g., a specific aluminum series, grade of stainless steel).

For testing, we use an XRF X-ray spectrometer as a tool that enables rapid and precise readings of elemental composition. The test can be performed at the loading site, in the warehouse, or at another collection point.

Why it matters

Minimization of claim risks

you confirm the material composition before the transaction.

Standards compliance

you can be sure the material meets requirements.

Speed and mobility

portable devices allow testing at any location.

Transparency

you receive a report and certificate with the results.

Applications of PMI testing

Automotive industry

quality control of aluminum, brass, and steel parts.

Foundries and recyclers

verification of scrap and secondary raw material deliveries.

Construction and structures

analysis of structural elements.

Shipbuilding industry

confirmation of material composition in ship structures.

How does the process work?

1

Submit your request

provide the type of material and location.

2

On-site verification

we perform PMI testing using an XRF spectrometer.

3

Results report

you receive a protocol with elemental composition and conclusions.

4

Transaction decision

you make a fact-based decision.
